Try if you will, to imagine being the holder of a secret. You are a big corporation, who has many loyal customers but a couple of years ago you nearly lost a large percentage because you did something awful.

Pretend if you will, that you sacked a very popular sportsman and your customers turned on you. So you set up a new opportunity for the sportsman and you told the world – you told everyone very loudly, and your customers returned. All was well.

Your secret now though is that the sportsman’s opportunity was beginning to die off, the team had no money and no real chance of ever being ‘comfortable’ – always struggling from race to race. The sportsman was in danger of losing his future because the team he is in will never build a winning car.

You are a board member of a big and honourable corporation, and you fear telling your customers that you will no longer help the sportsman’s team. But you still see the value of the sportsman … a terrible position. What do you do? You need to end the pain, but you cannot be seen holding the gun – you will loose customers again.

And then you see him, a cowboy in his 10-gallon hat. Cold eyes. Shark grin.

His position in your corporation has been in question since the new sheriff came to town anyway, perhaps he could help?  A parting gift to the Board?

Quietly, away from customers, someone untraceable, unknown and yet powerful, whispers in his ear … “won’t anyone rid me of this problem?”

A patsy rides out … he poisons a deal that was already dead. He shoots into the cold body of the victim. We all see him holding the gun over the dead team.

You breath a sigh of relief – no-one saw you, no-one knows your secret. Totally deniable. The sportsman now needs help. Maybe, just maybe, you can be the cavalry?  You have broken the news to the customers, but no-one sees you as the problem.

A CEO is not stupid enough to make trouble for a team largely influenced by his own masters is he? I don’t particularly like Mr Fry – but I think people are attacking the scapegoat.

But so be it ... I still think he was part of the reason Taku was dropped in 2005. So it is about time he got his just deserts. We are all watching very closely now. Taku has declared his intention to stay in F1 and we support that wholeheartedly. I for one would like to see him in one of the top three cars so that we can see him on the podium a few times ... but I would settle for a Force India seat if that was all he could get. Just let me see him race!

Would I like to see him at HRF1?  Yes. So long as they git rid of those ridiculous green trousers!
