Graham Taylor, Super Aguri F1 Sporting Director: “The changeable weather conditions and new track surface meant that there was a great deal to cover today. We managed to split the programme and gained a lot of information from both free practice sessions, however we made a mistake this morning with Taku’s tyres and are not satisfied with where we are at the end of the day. Even though the new parts that we have brought to this circuit seem to be working well there is a lot work to be done overnight.” By using two sets of wet weather tyres, Taku has breached a new technical rule, and has been brought in front of the stewards. Button and Hamilton did the same, so three drivers now wait until Saturday to find out whether they will face sanction or just a telling-off. **UPDATE** All three teams have been fined €15,000 (aprox £10,000). No grid penalty.
As the final race approaches, memories slip back to last year's final showing at Brazil where Taku made an amazing race finish and took us all to fantastic Cloud 9 ... can he do it again? We hope so. A penalty for using new tyres in a practice session would have been very very harsh and end any hopes of a fairytale finish.
