In an eventful Canadian GP, Takuma and Anthony took Super Aguri F1 Team to new heights. Finishing in a stunning 6th place, Taku added another 3 points to his first from Spain. Suddenly, the whole world is watching car #22 passing car #1 ! Reigning World Champion is passed by a flying Taku! In just the sixth race of their second season, SAF1 are racing with Toyotas, Williams, Ferraris, and McLarens. SAF1 is no longer an "also ran" team... Super Aguri F1 team is racing at the front.
In a very confusing race, ten fans were on the live chat forum, and none of us were really sure of what was happening ... but then we spotted Taku doing two pit stops in close succession. That allowed him to go straight back onto the better tyres having done just a couple of laps on the Super Softs. Genius. Pure Genius. That quick thinking, initiated by Anthony's report of heavy graining of the Super Softs paid such great dividend that Taku was able to make Alonso look slow - setting him up on the start/finish straight. It was a genuine racing moment which those watching will remember. An ITV.com poll for "Driver of the day" has Taku on 56% a staggering 15% higher than Lewis Hamilton for his maiden win! (figures taken at midnight Sunday, Taku having 1387 votes). Taku has called this, the race of his career - we fans think so too. Superb. |
