In a surprise move, the FIA have banned traction control from 2008. All teams have agreed that no devices to limit power to the driven wheels will be allowed from the start of next season. This includes devices that warn the driver of slipping wheels. When asked at the Autoshow in January, Takuma said that traction control was the driver control most needed on a modern F1 car - saying that driving the car in wet or damp conditions would be dangerous without traction control.
