Takuma Sato has been disqualified from his 14th place in the Chinese GP in a call that once again brings into question the ability of the FIA to properly resolve disputes.

Super Aguri driver Takuma Sato has been disqualified from the Chinese Grand Prix following the last-lap incident involving several drivers. Sato, who had already been reprimanded earlier this season, was deemed guilty of blocking faster drivers during the Shanghai race and therefore has lost his 14th place finish.

Spyker-MF1 driver Christijan Albers has been penalised for the same offence. Since he hadn't been reprimanded before, Albers has had 25 seconds added to his final race time.

Brazilian Rubens Barrichello, who was also under investigation following the last-lap accident, has escaped a penalty as the stewards ruled his crash with Nick Heidfeld was just a racing incident.

Reruns of the incident show that Sato was attempting to comply with blue flag but the 'chasing' group were too involved with their own battle to properly ensure the safety or correct line to take when cars are ahead of them.

Although we are a site dedicated to SAF1 we pride ourselves on being fair in our evaluation of team issues. Still, it is clear from several angles that Sato was not at fault in this incident and the decision was based on political and not sporting evidence.

The FIA continue to bring shame on the sport with another mistake in the seemly endless string of poorly handled incidents.
