Takuma Sato kept his racing spirits honed on Thursday by challenging invited fans and media to a Go-Kart GP. As you can guess, Taku led the way but slowed down enough to give us a chance of ovrtaking him. Driving very casually, as though he had been doing it all his life, while the rest of us were pushing ourselves to race him. He overtook me three times, each time giving a different wave - whilst I was trying my hardest to push the kart to go faster Fifteen fans, and many Japanese and English media were treated to a great day of racing, conversation, and lots of laughs. A great day was had by all and some photos can be seen here: share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=9BaOWjZm2aOA My team-mate was Jonathon Noble (Autosport) and he put us into the lead on the first lap ... but as I took my turn we slid down the table. We eventually finished 4th above some very respectable names (Matthew and Andrew for example) so I was very pleased at least. Another example, if one was needed, of Taku's devotion to his fans. We all had such a great day. "Thank you Taku" from all of us. |

Very few people have ever been told to slow down by an F1 driver passenger, but one reader has had that experience. Chosen to drive in the Drivers' Parade Lap of this year's Australian GP, John was assigned to none other than Takuma Sato. In his short article that follows, John describes the mayhem of the grid photographers and joy of driving a "bright, bouncy and friendly man" around Melbourne's race track... |

As a three week break begins, it's time to look at the first three races and see what they point to for 2008. Will BMW stay as the third team in top triangle? Or will Williams find the form they have promised? Has Hamilton gone off the boil? Let's look at the events and the the pointers. |

So finally, I am writing my report from the Barcelona F1 test session, February 19th and 20th, I have been delayed by the efforts to rally fans to the aid of Super Aguri but all is quiet now … I had planned my trip back in December, and now it was Monday 18th February. Later I would travel to Stanstead to fly into Barcelona the night before the tests begin. I had already learned in the press that the new car would not be available for the proposed launch, so I knew I would miss it. However … Less than an hour to go and some terrible news breaks, SAF1 were unable to travel to Barcelona due to circumstances beyond their control. |
