The FIA has just announced a TEN YEAR engine freeze to encourage alternative technologies ! Engines have been frozen in most aspects since the beginning of 2007, but this takes it a whole new step. The idea is to force teams to look at different ways of improving what they have, rather than spending more and more on power plants. Read the official release at by clicking here |

Graham Taylor, Super Aguri F1 Sporting Director: “The changeable weather conditions and new track surface meant that there was a great deal to cover today. We managed to split the programme and gained a lot of information from both free practice sessions, however we made a mistake this morning with Taku’s tyres and are not satisfied with where we are at the end of the day. Even though the new parts that we have brought to this circuit seem to be working well there is a lot work to be done overnight.” By using two sets of wet weather tyres, Taku has breached a new technical rule, and has been brought in front of the stewards. Button and Hamilton did the same, so three drivers now wait until Saturday to find out whether they will face sanction or just a telling-off. **UPDATE** All three teams have been fined €15,000 (aprox £10,000). No grid penalty.
As the final race approaches, memories slip back to last year's final showing at Brazil where Taku made an amazing race finish and took us all to fantastic Cloud 9 ... can he do it again? We hope so. A penalty for using new tyres in a practice session would have been very very harsh and end any hopes of a fairytale finish. |

Thank you for all the entries into the Fuji Fever competition. Sadly, Taku didn't finish as high as many of you predicted, but two people got the right answer. So we go to the tie breaker, and take his qualifying position into account too. Neither got that right, but one was closer than the other, so I have decided to award the prize to that person. But in a moment of fairness, I will send a second prize to the other person too
So, Congratulations to ... 1st Prize Anastasia 2nd Prize Nick Oystermayer Well done, I have written to ask for your addresses ... |
